Super easy healthy appetizer alert!

I am definitely an appetizer kind of girl. These are so easy and so delicious and adults and kids LOVE them! I like to prepare and bake them about an hour before the party and then just warm them in the oven for a few minutes just before serving, although they are also pretty good cold too.
You can prepare the roll beforehand and keep it covered tightly in cling wrap and refrigerate until it’s time to go in the oven. You need to let it sit and cool at least 30 minutes before cutting and serving, so just plan accordingly if made in advance.
- 1 premade thin crust pizza dough (I used Pillsbury Thin Crust Pizza Dough in the little pop can, is that what it’s called? :))
- 4 tablespoons of tomato paste (not sauce)
- 1/2 cup of light shredded cheese (I used Kraft 2% Milk Mozzarella)
- 1 teaspoon of olive oil
- 1/2 teaspoon of garlic powder
- 1/2 teaspoon of dried oregano
- 1/2 teaspoon of dried basil (or in lieu of both oregano and basil, use 1 teaspoons of Italian seasoning mix)
Preheat oven to 375f and line a baking sheet with parchment. Sprinkle a very small amount of flour on a counter or cutting board and unroll dough.
In a bowl, combine tomato paste, olive oil, garlic powder, oregano and basil.
Spread tomato paste mixture all over center 2/3 of the dough and cover all the way from left to right, not forgetting the ends. Sprinkle one half of the dough with cheese. Starting from the side with cheese on it, tightly roll the dough into a log. Pat the ends to straighten and place it on the parchment lined baking sheet. Place in the oven for about 10 minutes, then carefully flip the log and bake for another 6-8 minutes or so, or until roll appears light golden brown.
Light Bites Done Right Tip! In some ovens, the center of the pinwheel might be left a bit doughy, it happens in my sister’s oven but not in mine. If this is the case, simply place the cut pinwheels back on the parchment and bake at 375 for another 3-4 minutes after you cut them. You can do it right before serving as a way to warm them up!
